Dr. West has patients who fly from all over the world to see him. While he says he never intended to create a “destination practice” in Idaho, his unique approach to treatment has drawn people with inflammatory diseases, cancer and more.
He shares with us his health hacks and insights on how to change your life.
Dr. West’s Approach
- He doesn’t treat the cancer or rheumatoid arthritis, he treats the individual in front of him.
- He assesses their lifestyle and determines what changes they can make to address the cause of their health problem.
Everyone is born with the ability to heal and get back to optimal health – that chronic diseases don’t have to be permanent. If you’re not in optimal health, you’re missing something, whether it’s biochemical, emotional, or otherwise. Once you figure it out and restore that balance, your health problems will resolve.
The non-compremisables for high performance:
Schedule
Get on a consistent sleep schedule throughout the week, eating schedule and exercise schedule. Your body loves consistent circadian rhythms.
Sleep
One of the biggest health issues of the 21st century is lack of energy. When you don’t get enough rest, your body goes into a “borrowing crisis.” It starts to borrow vitamins and minerals from organs and tissues to maintain itself. Eventually, health problems will develop.
If you can’t sleep, you can’t heal.
Create a sleep sanctuary to make sure you get proper, restorative sleep.
- We live in a world of electromagnetic frequency, surrounded by technology.
- It’s essential that your sleep sanctuary is free from technology and LED screens: TV, cell phone, laptop, iPad.
- Do your best to minimize the electromagnetic frequencies throughout your house, but especially where you sleep.
Food
Get some colors on your plate (skittles and starburst don’t count). Raw foods, fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, healthy fat and healthy proteins.
Water
Consume half your bodyweight in ounces of water per day.
Oxygen
- Do breathing exercises every day.
- Try to breath from your belly versus shallow chest breathing.
- Fitness is essential to overall health.
