Brandon Allen – How to Grow Your Business by Finding Your Focus

By  |  0 Comments

Brandon Allen of the New Work Revolution is a former financial industry veteran who found his calling after helping Garrett Gunderson turn Freedom Fasttrack into an Inc. 500 company. Today he talks to us about finding your focus and using it as a launching point to skyrocket your business. We also touch on some of his favorite tools and strategies he uses to help his clients take their businesses to the next level.

Focusing your business often means turning down opportunities that are not in line with your goals.

Creating Focus in Your Business

Focus is a catalyst for growing your business. Resist the temptation to take every opportunity that comes your way - don’t skip over dollars to get to dimes. Instead, identify your focus and work on building what you’re good at.

Alignment

The work you do on the ground level should serve the big picture of your company. Ask yourself:

  • What is the mission of your company?
  • What value does your company create?
  • What are the values of your company?

Start by setting 5 objectives that you want to work on. These should be big-picture objectives that excite and challenge you. Make your team a part of the planning process and put key team members in charge of certain objectives to encourage their engagement in the company.

Three Dimensional Questioning

  • What do we need to start doing to be successful going forward?
  • What do we need to stop doing to be successful going forward?
  • What do we need to keep doing to be successful going forward?

Freedom

With entrepreneurship comes freedom, but many entrepreneurs are so mired in their work that they fail to see this. Many let go of the possibilities of life and get stuck in their current situation - they see only what is possible through their rear view mirror instead of their windshield.

If you don’t like something it is your responsibility to change it. Give yourself permission to have freedom and you can have your cake in business and eat it too in your personal life.

The best tools for growing your business

  • Leadership - Getting ruthlessly committed to your vision and holding other people up to that same standard.
  • Strategic Planning - Assess the viability of your planning quarterly and annually.
  • Leveraging People - Employees, not customers, are the most important relationship in your business. Invest in them.
